Statue of Unity Overview

The Statue of Unity is a massive statue of Indian independence leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat, India. With a height of 182 metres, it is the tallest statue in the world (597 feet). The Indian government erected the statue as a tribute to Patel, who is regarded as one of the Republic of India’s founding fathers. The statue was designed by Ram V. Sutar, an Indian sculptor, and was built by the engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro.

The statue’s construction began in 2013 and was completed in 2018. The bronze statue was created using a technique known as the “lost wax method.”
